Angelique Sandas is a life long student of movement and the interconnectedness of mind body and spirit. It began with gymnastics and dance, initiating her love of movement, the body’s natural way of expressing ideas, emotions and experiences. Angelique received her B.A. in dance from the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1999, during which she spent some time studying at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London, England. It was also during these years that she was first introduced to yoga. In yoga, Angelique's relationship with movement developed new depth and meaning. She became inspired to share what she was learning and felt drawn to teach. In 2003, Angelique traveled to Thailand to study with Paul Dallaghan in the Ashtanga yoga system as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and received her teaching certification. She has also studied pranayama and yogic philosophy with Sri O.P. Tiwari of the Kaivalyadhama Institute, India and received advanced anatomy and adjustment training from David Keil. Until 2007, Angelique had been sharing her yoga experiences, teaching and practicing in Chicago. She then moved to Miami Beach where she currently studies the Ashtanga method with Kino Macgregor and Tim Feldmann and teaches at the Miami Life Center. Angelique feels blessed to be a part of such an amazing Ashtanga community. She has had the opportunity to study with the Guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and continues her training with his grandson, Sri R. Sharath Jois, in Mysore, India. During her 2011 visit to study in Mysore, India, Angelique received Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga from Sri R. Sharath Jois. She is a dedicated instructor and a devoted student of yoga, embodying the spirit through it’s physical expression.
Angelique was recently featured by EHow for several yoga instructional videos. angelique on EHOW.com

"A part of this practice is physical, but in the main it is mental. If we believe that the mind is a finer part of the body, and that the mind acts upon the body, then it stands to reason that the body must react upon the mind. We have very little command of our minds. Therefore, to bring that command about, to get control over body and mind, we must take certain physical helps. When the body is sufficiently controlled, we can attempt the manipulation of the mind. By manipulating the mind, we shall be able to bring it under our control, make it work as we like, and compel it to concentrate its power as we desire." - Swami Vivekenanda
